Kids First / KaleidoscopeKids FirstThe YMCA Kids First program is designed for children with special needs or considerations between the ages of 4 to 12 years. This program is designed to allow children to develop social skills and build relationships with their peers while participating in recreational activities. The daily schedule will include swimming, gym activities, outdoor activities (weather permitting), creative projects and/or special events. Participants are asked to bring a bathing suit and towel, healthy snacks, outdoor clothing (weather appropriate) and indoor running shoes to the program. 2010 -2011 Program DatesSeptember 25 December 11 March 12, 16 October 16,30 January 8, 22 April 9, 30 November 13, 27 February 5, 26 Hours & Location Kids First runs from 1:00 to 4:30pm with drop off and pick up in Room ABC. How to Register Registration is on a first come first serve basis. All registration must be completed 3 days prior to the program date in order to ensure appropriate staff to participant support ratios. Registration can be done in person at any YMCA of Niagara Membership desk. If your child is a new participant to the program, you will be asked to meet with a Kids First staff to complete a profile prior to their first program. The profile will provide the staff with the necessary information on how to successfully support your child. To set up a profile appointment, please contact Sara Krug-Little at 905-934-9622 ext 283 or via email at skrug@ymcaofniagara.ca Fees The fee for participants is $30 per session. Payment will be accepted by cash, debit, Visa, Master Card or cheque. If your child is funded through another agency, please have the agency contact Sara Krug-Little directly to set up invoicing. Cancellation Policy We will give families a full refund or credit for any cancellation done 3 days before the program date. This will provide adequate time for us to offer the spot to another child. After this period refunds will not be permitted. Staffing and Ratio All YMCA Staff are required to have a Current Criminal Reference Check, Standard First AID and CPR. The Kids First staff have experience supporting children with a wide range of needs and abilities, in a variety of environments. The pre-determined ratio is 1 staff to every 2 children. On Saturdays, please call the Walker Family YMCA at 905 934 9622 and ask to speak to the Duty Manager YMCA KaleidoscopeThe Kaleidoscope program is designed for youth and adults with special needs or considerations between the ages of 13 and 25 years. This program creates opportunities for participants to become successfully involved in fun, age appropriate activities with necessary support. Youth are given the chance to develop friendships while being integrated into a community setting. The two main focuses of Kaleidoscope are life skill development and recreational experiences. Participants are involved in a variety of recreational activities including the use of the Walker Family YMCA facility (indoor track, weights, treadmills, stationary bikes, rowing machines, cross trainers, squash and racquetball courts, gymnasium and swimming pool). In addition, walking and bus trips into the local community will take place on a regular basis.
