Adopting exercise into your lifestyle will make you feel better, give you more energy and greatly reduce your risk for developing many chronic diseases. We want to support and assist members to make sure that exercise becomes a part of their everyday activities.
Personal Fitness Program
Included in your Membership, the YMCA Personal Fitness Program provides you with a one-on-one coach who will address your specific challenges and develop a “you centered” routine to help you meet your goals. Whether you want to learn how to tone and sculpt your body, are interested in long term weight maintenance, increase strength, or stay motivated; the Personal Fitness Program is for you. Please visit the Membership Desk to get started today!
Our fitness centres feature the latest in strength training and aerobic conditioning equipment including treadmills, bikes, rowing machines and cross trainers. YMCA fitness centre staff have a university degree in physical education and/or national YMCA certification in strength training. Staff offer guidance, motivation, and structure to help members start and stick with a fitness routine.
Personal Training Services
If you feel that you require more extensive one-on-one training, you can purchase YMCA personal training services. A Personal Trainer will supervise each workout by guiding, instructing and motivating you. For more information please contact the Membership Desk.
Fitness Centre Etiquette
Fitness Centre access is for individuals 13 years of age or older. To ensure all members have fair access to equipment, a 30 minute time limit per person is applied to the use of cardio equipment during peak times. To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety for everyone, members are asked to clean equipment after each use. When others are waiting to use equipment, offer to share between sets. Please remember to return all equipment to its proper location after use. For safety and security reasons, gym bags and jackets are not allowed in the Fitness Centre.
What to Wear
Comfort and safety are key. As a minimum, the YMCA requires that you wear running shoes, t-shirt, tank top, tights, shorts or sweat pants. In the pool, gender appropriate swimsuits are required which are suitable for a family environment.
Youth Recreational Sports
Recreational sports are non-registered (drop-in) and unsupervised activities open to members 10 - 15 years of age. All levels of ability are welcome to play. Sports may vary at each centre. Please see the program schedule for days and times.
Adult Recreational Sports
Recreational sports are non-registered activities open to members 16+ years of age. All levels of ability are welcome to play. Sports may vary at each centre. Please see the program schedule for days and times.
Open Gym Time

YMCA Group Fitness classes give you a chance to meet people, improve your fitness level, and have fun! Members are encouraged to work at their own pace. Ask your fitness instructor for assistance or exercise information at any time. Most of our classes include cardiovascular, muscular strength/endurance, and stretching components. YMCA fitness volunteers and staff are trained and certified as YMCA fitness instructors.
Who Can Participate?
All members 16 years of age and older are invited to join any fitness class. Members need not register for a class. Youth members 13 - 15 years of age can attend fitness classes after completing a Youth Fitness Orientation and receiving a sticker.
