Membership Program Schedule

General Program Information
Your child's membership provides the opportunity for unlimited access to Open Access programs and one swim lesson. Children are required to bring their membership card to each program and be signed in and out by their parent/guardian.

Swim Lessons

The National YMCA Canada Swim program, started in 1931, is a values based water activity program for children and youth. YMCA swim lessons are offered once per week. Regular attendance allows YMCA instructors to develop relationships with children and promotes learning and development.

(6 months to 5 years of age, parent participating)
The YMCA recommends that infants be able to hold their head up independently before beginning the program.

Youth Recreational - Registered

Karate
Learn the skills and discipline of karate in a fun YMCA learning environment.
(7 - 9 years)

Leader Corps
Through involvement in the program, our leaders usually learn a great deal about working with and getting along with others. More importantly, in time, our leaders begin to understand themselves and their own individual strengths and weaknesses.

Jr. Leaders (10 to 13 years)
Meet new friends, learn new skills, and have fun in the process! Each week, Jr Leaders will participate in games and activities designed to build confidence and enhance self esteem.

Leaders (14 to 17 years)
In this unique values-based leadership training program, teens will learn more about themselves and others as they participate in challenging activities, exciting adventures, and various initiative problems. Youth are challenged to develop their leadership and planning skills in various environments.

Youth Fitness Orientations
This orientation is required for youth members 13 and 15 years to work out in the Fitness Centre area. Instruction on how to use the equipment, safety and weightroom etiquette is included in this orientation.

Open Access Programs

Open Access Programs for children 3 and up allow members to participate in fun, active programs of their choice, at their convenience. Children are required to bring their membership card to each program and will be signed in and out by their parent/guardian. It is recommended that children arrive at the program when it begins to ensure their spot in the program. There will be access limits for the programs. Child Recreational - Open Access

Preschool programs provide opportunities for children that foster a sense of independence, improve social skills and introduce core values in a safe and nurturing environment.

Youth Recreational - Open Access

Child/Youth Programs for 6 - 12 year olds provide opportunities to choose from a variety of activities designed to develop new skills directed toward a sense of achievement, build relationships and strengthen core values in a safe and healthy environment.

Adult Instructional

Fitness Orientation
This is a group orientation to the fitness centre, led by a YMCA fitness professional and offered to all YMCA members. Learn basic exercise principles with emphasis on strength, cardiovascular and flexibility techniques.

Fitness Consultation
Individual consultations are also available. Please inquire at the Membership Desk for times and to register.
