The new Port Colborne YMCA is now open!
The YMCA of Niagara, in partnership with the City of Port Colborne have formed a long term partnership to provide health and fitness programs and services within the new Vale Health & Wellness Centre scheduled to open February 16, 2013.
The Vale Health & Wellness Centre, currently under construction, is a 145,000 sq ft facility that will include two NHL size rinks, a 25 metre lap pool, a leisure pool, an indoor walking track, a gymnasium and bocce courts.
The Port Colborne YMCA is prepared to offer approximately 300 hours of programming per week to people of all ages and abilities. In addition, the YMCA anticipates employing close to 75 staff and 40 volunteers who would provide local residents with over 250 different programs once the facility is fully operational.
Once open, residents are encouraged to purchase a membership to access YMCA programs and services, but are also be able to buy day passes and swim passes priced at a fair fee for the value.

Financial Assistance
As a charitable organization, the YMCA strives to serve all segments of the community, including those with limited financial means. Donors to the YMCA make it possible. Last year, our YMCA awarded financial assistance to over 17,493 individuals, enabling them to participate in a variety of programs and services. Our Membership Assistance program serves those individuals and families who have the greatest need in our community. They are unable, not unwilling, to pay the full fee for a general membership.
If your current financial circumstances are limiting your ability to participate, financial assistance may be provided.

The YMCA annually reviews fees and makes adjustments September 1.

A photo id/proof of age is required when purchasing a membership.
First month will be prorated to reflect start date.
Family applies to a maximum of two adult spouses living at the same address.
Family with children option applies to a maximum of two adult spouses and any number of dependent children up to age 24 living at the same address.
Young Adults with a valid student card may arrange 4 or 8 month memberships. All other memberships are annual.
Membership Assistance
To arrange a confidential appointment for Membership Assistance please see the Membership Desk. Applicants will be asked to provide documentation of personal income and expenses. Membership financial assistance is, in part, made possible through our Strong Kids annual support campaign.

YMCA Access
When you purchase a YMCA membership, you receive a photo membership identification card. Please present this card to access the Y. You will need your card to enter the Gym and Fitness Centre. If you forget your card, please present a piece of photo identification. Your card is not transferable and may be used by you only. Please allow our staff to scan your card upon arrival - this registers your visit.
Payment Options
Your YMCA membership fees can be paid in full or by installments through our convenient pre-authorized monthly payment plan. All monthly memberships on a pre-authorized plan will be continuous. The first month will be pro-rated to reflect your start date.
Building Fee
The Building Fee is used to maintain YMCA facilities and equipment through capital improvements. Adult members will be required to pay a Building Fee. Only one Building Fee is paid per family living at the same address. The
Building fee is non-refundable and must be paid at the time of registration. $100 per Adult / Adult Family plus HST.
Children’s Fitness Tax Credit
Your child’s YMCA membership qualifies for the Government of Canada’s Fitness Tax Credit. The CFTC lets parents claim up to $500 for children 16 years and under who are enrolled in a supervised program of prescribed physical activity. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Membership may be cancelled at any time. There is no cancellation fee. Monthly pre-authorized memberships must be cancelled in writing 10 days prior to your payment date. For prepaid memberships, refunds are completed upon written notification for any unused portion. Please return membership card and allow 14 business days for processing.
Guest Passes
‘Adult’ and ‘Young Adult’ members may bring guests who have not been to the Y before to receive a complimentary day pass. Guests must be 16 years of age and bring appropriate photo identification. Guests who have accessed the Y in the last 2 years are invited to purchase a day pass for $10.
Regional Membership
All young adults and adults have unlimited general membership privileges at all Niagara region YMCA’s. Child/Youth members have program privileges in their home YMCA and unlimited open/family swim access at all other branches.

The Port Colborne Branch of the YMCA of Niagara will be open the following hours for your convenience. Please note that on holidays, our program schedules may be reduced.
