New to exercise?
Been out of the game for a while?
Then the Personal Fitness Program is for you!
Trained fitness professionals will provide you with the support and guidance you need to start – and most importantly – stick with an exercise program.
This program is FREE of charge to YMCA adult members.
If you feel unsure about how to use equipment or perform certain exercises; are intimidated by hiring a personal trainer; or find it difficult to fit exercise into your day, the Personal Fitness Program is the answer.
You will meet one-on-one with a certified, knowledgeable and caring professional focused on your fitness needs. The staff member will help you establish goals and create a customized program and will also provide follow-up support and information, including new exercises and techniques to keep you motivated and progressing.
Benefits of the Personal Fitness Program
Regular physical activity helps relieve stress, combat depression and anxiety; prevent diabetes, heart disease, weight gain, osteoporosis and cancer. It also reduces the risk of high blood pressure, stroke and osteoporosis and improves cholesterol levels.
Physical activity makes you stronger and more flexible and helps you maintain a healthy weight. It contributes to improved self-esteem, increased energy and better sleep.
Most people know the risks of inactivity and the benefits of exercise, but uncertainty or inexperience can discourage you from starting or keeping up with a wellness routine. The Personal Fitness Program offers the motivation, information and support you need to reach your goals.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I'm very happy that I was shown by fitness staff how to do a strength program, with exercises that are right for me. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. If I need help, I just have to ask.
I am no longer a candidate for osteoporosis and don’t need medication for type II diabetes.
I could not have achieved this on my own.
Thank you YMCA staff
Prior to joining the YMCA, I suffered from fibromyalgia and arthritis.
I never saw myself as a gym member. I was always in pain and could not conceive that exercising would make me feel good. My next door neighbour encouraged me to try the Y out for a week. Needless to say, I was hooked.
I am happy to say my fitness program has helped so that I no longer suffer. I have been able to decrease my medication and my goal is to kick it totally. I've lost 20 lbs., gained healthy muscle mass and a good outlook on exercise in a gym setting and all of its benefits to body, mind and soul.
Wow! My fitness coach listened to me- I was asked what I wanted to achieve for myself. When I said I wanted to look good, improve my health and be able to run with my kids, I was told “let’s do it”. Together we came up with a plan and although I am still working on being able to run with my boys, I feel and look great. I feel confident I can keep this up.
