At the YMCA of Niagara, we offer opportunities to all individuals regardless of race, age, sex, creed, ability or economic circumstances. Men, women and children come to the YMCA to grow and develop into happier, more productive people. Regular participation in YMCA membership activities supports a balanced approach to personal growth, health and wellness. Our Financial Assistance program serves those individuals and families who have the greatest need in our community. They are unable, not unwilling to pay the full fee.
Assistance is available for Childcare, Day Camp, and General Membership at any YMCA of Niagara Branch. We will make every effort to accommodate those in greatest need who wish to participate in YMCA programs through a YMCA General Membership. We do not provide assistance for Membership Plus memberships. Those who feel they qualify can have a private, confidential interview to discuss Membership Assistance.
It's easy to apply for financial assistance. Simply visit any YMCA branch to pick up the necessary paperwork. Individuals interested in applying for Membership Assistance should visit the nearest YMCA branch to receive a tour of the facility and membership information. Appointments are available at scheduled times on a walk-in basis. Appointments will not be made over the phone. Please bring all required documents and completed application form. A void cheque and first payment is required to register.
Money comes from a combination of sources: - The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign - The YMCA of Niagara
Financial assistance recipients are encouraged to volunteer at the YMCA. There are many volunteer opportunities available. YMCA volunteers are involved in leading group fitness classes, aquafit, youth programming, event planning, and facility maintenance. Some volunteers have special talents or skills that they provide for the Y. As a charitable organization, the YMCA is grateful to the hundreds of community volunteers who help out in many ways each day. The YMCA also encourages Financial Assistance recipients to write a brief note describing how the program has been of help to them. These may be shared with YMCA supporters, who appreciate knowing how their contributions are used.
