The YMCA of Niagara’s Youth Action program is for all youth in grades 4-8 (age 9 to 14) - youth do not have to be a YMCA member to participate. Programs are offered throughout the Niagara region, and consist of four components: Youth Action School Program, Leaders in Action, Friday Nights and Dances. These programs offer youth a safe and positive environment in which they can learn new skills, participate in physical activities and socialize with friends while having a positive role model to assist and guide them and build their Developmental Assets.

Youth Action has been offered to youth in the Niagara community since 1985 with support from United Way of St. Catharines and District, YMCA Strong Kids, Welland Neighbourhood Association, Canadian Tire Jump Start and Port Colborne Hydro.

Youth Action School Program

This FREE recreational drop in program is offered throughout the week at local school gymnasiums throughout the Niagara region. Youth Action School Program gives youth the opportunity to participate in active games, play sports, and participate in special events and more. Youth Action School Program does not run on PD Days or School Holidays.

Friday Nights

The Friday Night drop in program is offered at all 6 YMCA membership branches. Friday Nights give youth the chance to participate in all the activities offered in the school program as well as join in a variety of different activities available: open swim, gym games, Wii’s, weekly tournaments/special events and much more. Youth also have the opportunity to just hang out with their friends in a safe, supervised environment. Cost of the program is $5

Niagara Falls: 6:00 – 9:00pm

Niagara Centre: 6:00 – 9:00pm

St. Catharines: 7:00 – 10:00pm

Niagara West: 7:00 – 10:00pm

Fort Erie: 7:00 – 10:00pm   *Cost of the program in Fort Erie is $3.

Port Colborne Friday Nights will run 6:00 – 9:00pm starting Friday April 5^th, 2013. Cost of the program will be $5.00

Youth Action Friday Nights run every week with the exception of holidays. Programs will end for this school year in all centres on Friday, June 21^st,  except in Fort Erie, which ends Friday, May 3^rd.

Dances

Dances are offered at the Fort Erie, Niagara Falls and Niagara Centre locations. Youth can hang out with their friends and YMCA Youth Action Staff.

Cost of a dance is $10 in all locations except Fort Erie which is $7.
