The YMCA of Niagara’s Youth Action program is for all community youth ages 9 to 14. Youth do not have to be a YMCA member to participate. Programs are offered throughout the Niagara region, and consist of three components: School Programs, Friday Night Programs and Dances. Youth Action offers youth a safe and positive environment in which they can learn new skills, participate in a wide variety of activities and socialize with friends in a safe environment, while meeting positive role models.
YMCA Youth Action programs incorporate the principals of YMCA Healthy Adolescent Development and provide youth with the opportunity to gain Developmental Assets that will help them become healthy adults, and give them the foundation to make positive life choices.
Youth Action has been offered to youth in the Niagara since 1985, and is made possible through support from the United Way of St.Catharines and District, YMCA Strong Kids, Canadian Tire Jump Start, Ontario Power, Port Colborne Hydro, and other donors.
Please Note: Empowering young people to choose to participate and remain engaged in Youth Action is a critical program element. All Youth Action programs are drop-in style programs which means that youth aged 9 to 14 can sign themselves in and out of the program. Please be advised that during the duration of the a program if a youth chooses to leave they will not be permitted back into the program that evening.
